Darwen Aldridge Community Academy is a Centre of Excellence for entrepreneurial education. It is an inclusive school that provides for the students and citizens of Darwen continuous opportunities, and a world-class, high-quality environment for lifelong learning. The Academy’s students are committed, successful learners, who are proud, creative and self-confident, showing respect for themselves, the community and for others. Darwen Aldridge Community Academy is an 11-18 academy situated in the heart of Darwen.

The Academy seeks to develop a passion for learning and an enterprising spirit amongst its students and staff, and amongst members of the local community. In addition, it seeks to create, develop and maintain an education that focuses emphatically on providing opportunities for success for all, recognising and celebrating the achievements of everyone in all aspects of life at the Academy.

Aldridge Education is a charitable Trust of entrepreneurial community schools and colleges that help young people to reach their potential. We support our schools’ Principals and teachers in rapidly improving the quality of education on offer at early years, primary, secondary and sixth-form levels in order to transform the life-chances of our students.

Assistant Director of Learning for English

 We are seeking to appoint an Assistant Director of Learning of English. The key duties will involve strategically planning for the development and demonstrating impact of learning and progress of pupils.  You will narrow the gaps in the achievement of all groups of learners through implementing and managing an appropriate assessment strategy. Ensuring responsive interventions across the subject whilst assisting the Director of Learning in all aspects of the management of the subject area.

The working pattern for this role is typically 8am-4pm Monday to Friday. In addition, you are expected to work such additional hours as may be necessary to enable professional duties, including planning and preparing courses and lessons; and assessing, monitoring, recording and reporting on the learning needs, progress and achievements of assigned pupils. With an expectation to attend various open evenings throughout the year.

Finance Officer

We are seeking to appoint a Finance Officer to provide a customer-focused and effective finance shared service operation that facilitates accurate, timely and efficient processing that meets the needs of all customers and stakeholders.

The candidate will also ensure that the Trust’s financial processes adhere to financial regulations, the Academies Financial Handbook and any other requirements specified by the Financial Controller.

Casual Vacancies   

Casual Exam Invigilator

We are seeking to appoint multiple casual exam invigilators to join the current team at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy in preparation for the upcoming exam season. You will be reliable, punctual and be flexible in your approach to work. Be friendly and approachable yet remain professional. You will also have the ability to remain calm under pressure or when unexpected circumstances arise. You will be responsible for supporting the Examinations Officer and the Senior Leadership Team to provide specific support to the school in the monitoring of internal and external examinations.
Basic computer skills are essential. Full training will be offered. Full flexibility is required due to the nature of the role. This
