DACA Christmas Fayre in aid of Derian House

DACA Christmas Fayre raises £700 for Derian House.

We brought festive cheer to the community on Wednesday 4th December 2024, with our Christmas Fayre, raising an impressive £700 for Derian House. The event was a resounding success, filled with activities and attractions that united the community in the spirit of giving.

The Fayre featured a variety of stalls, including local vendors and DACA-led initiatives, offering everything from fresh homemade hot food to hot and cold drinks and sweet treats. Attendees had the chance to win exciting prizes through the DACA tombola and raffle stalls, with every penny raised going directly to Derian House, a charity dedicated to providing essential care for children and families in need.

The event drew praise from a very special guest, the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen, who attended the Fayre and shared words of encouragement, Mayor Cllr Brian Taylor said: "This is a truly wonderful event for a fantastic cause."

One of the most popular attractions of the day was Santa’s Grotto, where visitors young and old got the chance to meet the man in red and share their Christmas wishes.  The event also featured live music from DACA students, who added to the festive atmosphere with their performances. Families enjoyed free arts and crafts activities, as well as the chance to write letters to Santa. Blackburn Rovers Community Trust hosted a free penalty shootout, and even the Darwen Grinch stopped by, adding a playful touch to the celebrations.

Principal Claire Bailey reflected on the success of the event; “It’s great to see the community coming together, and we thank everyone for getting behind us and joining us for a great cause. Derian House is a charity very close to our hearts here at DACA."

The Christmas Fayre was a shining example of community spirit, leaving attendees with warm memories and festive cheer, all while making a significant impact for a meaningful cause.
