Homework

Homework

At DACA, we use a variety of online platforms to set homework and monitor our students’ progress. We strongly believe in using homework as a form of memory and retrieval practice so that our students’ learning ‘sticks’ long-term.

Across core subjects, the platforms in use are:

Maths English Science
KS3 Sparx Bedrock SENECA
KS4 SENECA Bedrock/SENECA

SENECA

For all other subjects, homework is set dependent on the needs of the curriculum. SENECA is widely used across the board, but some subjects may still set other tasks where necessary. Homework will, however, always be used as a means of recalling previous learning.

Should you have any queries regarding homework, please contact the relevant Subject Leader via the contacts below:

For those students preferring to complete their homework in school, they are welcome to attend homework club in room 1.43 every Friday at 3.15pm where they will be able to make use of our IT facilities and quiet study space to complete their homework.

Year 11 homework

In year 11, teachers will set homework in accordance with the following homework timetable:

Day Monday A Tuesday A Wednesday A Thursday A Friday A
1 English Maths Option A Option C Option B
2 Science English Science  Maths
Day Monday B Tuesday B Wednesday B Thursday B Friday B
1 English Maths Option A Option C Option B
2 Science English Science  Maths

In line with our commitment to improving our students’ outcomes, we now log non-completion of homework via Bromcom. Any student failing to complete homework will be issued with a neutral behaviour point, a message home, and a homework detention. Any student failing to attend their homework detention will be issued with a negative behaviour point on Bromcom and contact home from a member of the Senior Leadership Team.

If you have any questions regarding homework, or any of our online platforms, please contact Miss Flanagan, Assistant Principal of Teaching and Learning, on jessica.flanagan@daca.uk.com.
