DACA hits the slopes in Italy
Aosta Valley in the Italian Alps.
The intensive ski and snowboard course branched even further this year running a 6th form trip for 16 6th formers
taking our total numbers to 60 altogether (D Pearson-Advanced Skills Teacher PE, Mr Loughran-Principal).

This is an annual ski/ snowboarding course. The students travelled by executive coach to their destination,
All their food, accommodation, ski lift passes, ski/ snowboard tuition, skis, board and ski poles as well as their après
ski, were included in the price.
Après ski consists of a pizza night, quiz, ice-cream night, disco night and the presentation night.
The students were assessed on their attainment and then graded for a presentation at the end of the week.
Cormayeur is a beautiful ski village with a magnificent view sweeping the Alps, from Mont Blanc to Monte Rosa and
the Matterhorn. There are 70 kms of perfectly maintained pistes, modern ski lifts, 400+ snow cannons (meaning
superb snow-making) and a tempting mix of tree-lined runs and vast, wide, open spaces.
The course runs in the last week of the January term. This not only makes the trip cheaper but gives greater
access to the skiers and snowboarders to the lifts and quieter mountain (which means more skiing and boarding
hours a day).

away from home. It also offers the opportunity of a unique experience, not only on a practical level, but also in
developing relationships with their peers, teachers and other adults.
All the students grow in confidence on the mountain and individually as they learn to adapt to the Italian culture.
The 6th form ski student team of 2014 were a credit to themselves, the school and their families. They were
responsible for probably the most successful ski trip to date. Well done to all of those students and to the staff who
