Each year DACA hosts a Pink Passion event to celebrate female entrepreneurship and raise lots of money for charity. This year’s theme was “Success in Stilettos”. The evening started with visitors being able to shop in a bustling market place made up of both students and female business owners whilst being entertained by the fantastic DACA choir, Vocalyte.
The main event was a mix of performances from Dance Dance Studios and DACA’s own performers as well as a fashion show. Members of the audience had a chance to interview all our guest speakers in an open forum.
Our Special Guest was Kirsty Henshaw, who survived the Dragons’ Den in 2010 and was successful in securing an investment for her Worthenshaws Freedom from both Peter Jones and Duncan Bannatyne. She is the CEO of Worthenshaws and winner of BIBA’s Entrepreneur of Year 2011. Our other guest speakers included; Elaine Brady, winner of BIBA’s Business Woman of the Year 2011; Julie Billington, Creative Director at Mirror Ball Events; Martine Pascale, Managing Director of Killa Heals; Vicky Rothwell from Dance Crazy Studios; Karen Mathison, owner of K & I Imaging, also Project Manager at BAE Systems; Janiece Wallace, Director of The Pole House; Tina Dutton, founder of Pink Ladies, inspiration for the television series Candy Cabs. These women have all been successful in their chosen careers.
The evening was fun, exciting and motivational. It was not only a chance for ladies to “get her high heels on” to help support raising money for breast cancer; but was also a great opportunity for girls to celebrate their successes together.
