Winners of Search for a Star 2011, Jack Wilson of DACA and Sudell Primary dance group Jee Karda

This year’s final for the Search for a Star talent competition was one of our best yet. A mixture of musicians and dancers portrayed their talents to a full audience, with tickets being a complete sell out. The night was hosted by Martin Cooper, from 107 The Bee radio, with a judging panel of Mr D Cane (Vice Principal, DACA), Steven Ashcroft (opening act) and Cathryn Lewin (Entrepreneurship projects Co-ordinator, DACA). After each act had performed, the three judges deliberated and selected three finalists who were then voted for by the audience. This was done using interactive voting pods, allowing each audience member to cast their vote. The overall DACA winner was singer Jack Wilson and the overall Primary School winner was the dance group Jee Karda. During the night, students from the E-unit and the 6th form acted as stewards and stall holders, selling a variety of food items and handmade products.
