Foundation secures NESTA funding for innovative regeneration projects
The Aldridge Foundation is one of only 16 organisations to secure funding from the National Endowment for Science, Technology and the Arts (NESTA) as part of their Neighbourhood Challenge project.
The Foundation will use the funding to build the Entrepreneurial Community Fund, which will help drive forward regeneration projects in Darwen, Lancashire and Falmer in Brighton.
Honor Wilson Fletcher, the Aldridge Foundation Director, said:
''The Foundation is unafraid to challenge conventional thinking, and it is a privilege to get the chance to work alongside NESTA and a group of creative organisations who are innovators in their communities.
We believe that a successful community is an entrepreneurial one, and this programme gives us the chance to understand more about the power of entrepreneurship to transform neighbourhood action.
In particular we have been developing our plans for an Entrepreneurial Communities Fund in Darwen and Falmer, and this pilot programme is a fantastic opportunity to turn those plans into action and enable local people to make a difference. ''
