Darwen teachers in kindest cut for comedy moustaches
COMEDY moustaches were given a close shave as their 30-day stay of execution for charity ended.
Handlebar, pencil and horsehoe ’taches were grown during last month for ‘Movember’, raising money for the Prostate Cancer Charity.
Five teachers at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy got involved in the campaign.
Principal Brendan Loughran, senior management staff and teachers shaved off their moustaches after a month as part of the annual fundraiser.
Howard McWilliam, assistant principal and head of sixth form, organised the Movember Challenge at the school.
He said: “Movember challenges men to change their appearance and the face of men’s health by growing a moustache.
“The rules are simple: start Movember 1st clean shaven and then grow a moustache for the entire month.
“The moustache becomes the means by which awareness and funds are raised for cancers that affect men, especially prostate cancer.”
The money raised will be channelled into a number of education, support, research and awareness initiatives.
