Year 7 pupils were asked to enter the Pegasus writing competition. The story had to be based around ‘What Pegasus did in Darwen.’ Six outstanding entries were shortlisted by the Academy with the Aldridge Foundation acting as the panel of judges.
Jessica Dootson’s entry was singled out as the winner of the award. Jessica describes the bravery of Pegasus as he rescues a little girl and Jessica managed to incorporate the six DAKAs, creativity, determination, passion, risk taking, team work and problem solving. She certainly hit all the DAKAs herself and was awarded the trophy by a very special person, Kate Middleton.
