GCSE Results 2012

Darwen Aldridge Community Academy GCSE 2012 Provisional Results
After record A Level results last week, students at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy are celebrating their GCSE achievements today. The overall pass rate at GCSE is 98% and the percentage of students gaining at least five GCSEs including English and mathematics GCSE is 56%, matching the Academy’s 2011 record.

Academy Principal, Brendan Loughran said:
‘The students have worked hard and deserve their successes. This was the last full year group that transferred to the Academy during their secondary education and in matching last year’s standard they have established a clear benchmark for continued future improvement’.

A new record high of 76% of students gained grades A*-C in mathematics but, as in many schools across the country, there was some concern about the accuracy of the examination boards’ assessment and grading in English.

“Building on the record breaking set of A Level results that came out last week, with over 75% of our 6th formers likely to progress to University, this has been another successful year for DACA.”
