Enterprising Britain Awards 2013


DACA Highly Commended at the Enterprising Britain Awards 2013 Friday 22nd November.

The Enterprising Britain Awards are a key part of the Government’s drive to increase rates of entrepreneurial activity in the UK. The Enterprising Britain Awards 2013 a nationwide competition to find schools, towns and people who are enterprising.

Darwen Aldridge Community Academy has been Highly Commended in the category of the school/FE college in the country that is best at supporting enterprise ambition in young people and were presented with their award by Matthew Hancock, Minister for Skills and Enterprise. Michelle
Billington, Assistant Principal for Entrepreneurship and Community said: “we are thrilled at receiving this accolade for the Academy in recognition of the hard work that takes place on developing the entrepreneurial capabilities of the people of Darwen on a daily basis that leads
not only to improved outcomes for them but social and economic regeneration of the local community.”

Business and Enterprise Minister Michael Fallon said:
“These awards showcase the entrepreneurial spirit that can be found in local authorities, businesses, schools and colleges across the country.”

Michelle Billington, Assistant Principal travelled to the House of Commons on the 22nd November to collect the Award on behalf of DACA along with CEO of The Aldridge Foundation, Honor Wilson Fletcher.  Jake Berry MP took time out to come and congratulate DACA and the Aldridge
Foundation.
