Darwen Aldridge Community Academy welcomed hundreds of women to their new inspiring building to celebrate female entrepreneurs of the town.
Now in its third year, the Pink Passion Party was organised as part of Global Entrepreneurship Week to celebrate the female entrepreneurs in Darwen, with some added glamour.
As part of the continuing ‘Stand out in Darwen’ campaign, the Pink Passion Party hosted by Martin Cooper of 107 The Bee, aimed to raise aspirations and bring the community of Darwen together to celebrate its talent.
Almost 300 women and young ladies gathered at the new school campus to join in the celebrations and raise money for charity.
The event was full fun and glamour with students showcasing their enterprising ideas and hosting stalls selling everything from gifts to cakes and hot chocolate in order to raise money for Cancer research and the East Lancashire Hospice.
Local entrepreneur and managing director of JoJa Designs HQ, Georgia Smithies shared her story to success and at only 19 provided the perfect role model to the many youngsters and women of Darwen who have a passion for business and an entrepreneurial spirit.
The evening was rounded off with a fashion show featuring the latest winter fashions from Sainsbury’s and designer wear by Cargo.
Jude Smith, Inspiring Communities Co-ordinator at the academy said of the event: “Last year we had a wonderful evening and raised a great amount for charity and this year we want to do even better.
“We are passionate in the belief that in teaching about entrepreneurship, we can equip young people to make a greater contribution to our community. If we can have fun and enjoyment in doing all of this, then it will be even better!”
A partnership between Darwen Aldridge Academy (DACA), Blackburn with Darwen Community and Voluntary Service and Blackburn with Darwen Strategic Partnership, Stand Out In Darwen has secured £450,000 from the Inspiring Communities government grant programme.
