As part of We Are What We Do’s Young Speakers programme, DACA’s Rebecca Ainsworth and Sarah Varey, both aged 16, flew to London to speak at the launch of the organisation’s ground breaking new book, ‘Teach Your Granny to Text & Other Ways to Change the World’ in London.
Selected by We Are What We Do for their enthusiasm and passion for the initiative, Rebecca and Sarah had been provided with exclusive speaker training to help them spread the word prior to the event. They have also successfully presented to many young people in the Darwen area (including 50 prefects from DACA) and will continue to do so, visiting local primary schools to give talks to inspire and motivate people to make changes to the way they live.
The two Young Speakers from Darwen will be engaging with people throughout the year via visits to schools in the North West and London to deliver stimulating presentations about how small actions can make big changes using content derived from the new book.
