Darwen Aldridge Community Academy is one of a few schools in the UK to have a main specialism of entrepreneurship. The spirit of entrepreneurship will underpin all aspects of Academy life including:
- Promoting a positive attitude and a determination to succeed in all of our young people with the DAKAs – a currency of entrepreneurship from which the foundations of our cultural ethos are based.
- Developing entrepreneurial capability in young people through our unique entrepreneurship curriculum delivered to students in Key Stage 3 and Key Stage 4.
- Aiming for high standards in all academic areas with a focus on business related subjects. Future diploma lines include Business Administration and Finance, ICT, Retail, Hospitality and Sport and Leisure.
- Developing young people as active citizens and social entrepreneurs – User Voice, Social Enterprise and Volunteering are three important strands of our entrepreneurship specialism.
- Working in partnership with local and national business community – a number of key links have already been established including, We are What We Do, V, ?What If! Innovations, Winning Pitch, Community and Business Partners and Women in Business.
