DACA Typhoon Haiyan Fund-Raiser
The Year 7 entrepreneurship classes at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy were asked to come up with a fund-raising idea for a cause of their choice. After much discussion they decided to raise money for the Typhoon Haiyan natural disaster.
Our Year 8 Young Chamber students made a presentation on Typhoon Haiyan and performed it in Assemblies to raise the student’s awareness of the devastation caused by the natural disaster.
The Year 7’s held their stalls on Tuesday 11th and Thursday 13th of February. There were 46 stalls open for business over the two fund-raising days, to name a few there were games, tombolas and raffles, to home made milkshake, cake stalls and wacky hair design.
The events were a great success and in rose well over £300, with 100% of the money being donated to the Samaritans Typhoon Haiyan Appeal.
