DACA sets new benchmark on GCSE results

We are delighted that 60% of our Year 11 students have gained at least five GCSEs graded at A*-C, including English and mathematics, with 88% gaining five or more A* - C grades across all subjects. Following the much publicised changes to GCSEs these set new benchmarks for the Academy.

As a new Mathematics hub, it is great to see 79% of our students gaining grades A*-C in mathematics and an 80% pass rate in the Additional Mathematics GCSE, laying solid foundations for students intending to study A Level maths in our Sixth Form.

In English, 65% of our students have gained grades A*-C with 18% of grades at the top A/A* grade.
Despite warnings from Ofqual to expect variation in results this year, it looks like the progress made by students at Darwen Aldridge Community Academy is as good as it has ever been, especially in the core GCSE subjects.
Today is the time to congratulate students and to commend them for all of their hard work in gaining great exam results. It is also important to give credit to the dedicated staff who have worked tirelessly to ensure that the students achieve their best, both in terms of exam results and in terms of a wider and enriched secondary education.

Today’s good news comes on top of last week’s excellent A Level results at the Academy and the increase in numbers applying to enter our Sixth Form is unprecedented. Students who have not already registered with us are advised to contact the Academy as soon as possible, with additional enrolment days now scheduled for Tuesday 26th August and Thursday 28th August.
