Year 7 Admissions
If your child is currently in Year 6 of primary school, you should apply for a place in the Academy now. The Academy has its own Admissions Body for admissions to the Academy.
For September 2018 entry, parents are asked to use and follow the guidelines in the Blackburn with Darwen information booklet ‘Secondary school admissions for September 2016’. This booklet gives further detail on the Academy and the process of application.
The Academy is offering places for up to 240 Year 7 students in September 2018. In the case of the Academy receiving more applications than places available, the Blackburn with Darwen ‘over subscription criteria’ will be used to determine places, in the same way that the criteria applies to Community Schools.
*Appeal hearings for all appeals lodged after 31st March 2018 will be heard with the on time appeals wherever possible. If they cannot be heard with the on-time appeals, they will be heard within 30 school days of the date the appeals is lodged. In some circumstances, this may mean appeals for the September intake will be heard after the school’s summer holidays.
We will endeavour to stick to the above dates wherever possible, however please be aware that these dates may be subject to change depending on the numbers of appeals received.
