Photographic Competition

Students from GCSE Photography entered a photographic competition hosted by the Darwen Civic Society as part of the Civic Society Programme of community events.  This 23rd Annual Photographic competition was run in conjunction with “The Friends of Darwen Cemetery” and was open to all schools and amateur photographers.  The theme for the competition was “Darwen Cemeteries throughout the year”.  Our GCSE Photography classes responded to this theme by entering a series of 5x7” photographs based around a Darwen Old Cemetery on-location photoshoot.  We would like to congratulate the following students for their winning entries:

Shauna Flynn, Year 11, £20 FIRST PRIZE
Amy Wood, Year 10, £15 SECOND PRIZE
Roksana Kujawa, Year 11, £12 THIRD PRIZE

They were presented with the prizes by the Mayor of Blackburn with Darwen at an awards evening held in the Exhibition Room of Darwen Library, Knott Street, Darwen on Wednesday, 8th June. All student work that was entered into the competition will be exhibited from 9th June to 17th June, which gives the public a chance to view all of the work by our GCSE Photography students.
