Unfortunately we have had to temporarily close the Bridge business centre as a result of the school closure and in line with Government guidance to reduce the spread of COVID 19. The academy has to limit the number of essential people in the school to protect the children of keyworkers and other local children who still need to attend school. We did try to find members who requested help alternative options to work from, but unfortunately weren’t successful.
Members will not be asked to pay any membership fees during the closure and we will contact members as soon as we know that we are able to open the facility again.

What we do
We have the flexible, modern work- space to support you starting or develop your business.
Our home is Darwen Aldridge Community Academy, where we have 11 office pods for start-ups or for businesses in the next stage of their growth. These pods make up the Bridge Business Centre.
Why we want to support new or growing businesses
Originally the vision of Sir Rod Aldridge, founder of The Aldridge Foundation and one of the UK’s most successful entrepreneurs, our aim is to provide local people the opportunity to start or grow a business. As part of the national Aldridge Creates programme, running your business from the Bridge will make you part of a national network of like-minded entrepreneurs. By providing the space you need to run your business, the more businesses are established in the local area, providing economic growth, increased employment and social improvements.

What’s the catch?
There isn’t one! But, you can help us make a difference!
Raising aspirations, educating young people and inspiring them to better lives happens over time through a number of conversations, experiences and connections. Sometimes it is a combination that makes a difference and sometimes it is a single conversation or speech that stays with them. Taking time to share your story with our students could inspire them, a chance at work experience could give them the skills they need, your employees could show them what’s possible, be a mentor to guide a young person through their final years of study. These are ways that you can contribute to the wider community in which the Bridge is based.
The Bridge Business Centre is run by Darwen Aldridge Community Academy as part of their wider programme of Entrepreneurship that is delivered across the whole Academy.
