Attendance

Student attendance remains the number one factor affecting the overall achievement of students. From the beginning of their high school career, students must have an understanding of the consequences of poor attendance. In fact, good attendance is the number one issue that their private sector identifies as making a good employee. The following policies will become site Academy Procedures:

Note or Phone Call must clear absences the day of return. Students will be required to bring a note explaining the reason for each absence on the day that they return to school. Notes should be passed to Student Services via tutor boxes.

If the student does not bring a note, the parent may call to excuse the absence poor to the beginning of school that day.

ABSENCES MUST BE CLEARED THE DAY A STUDENT RETURNS TO THE ACADEMY

  1. Any student returning without a note or parent phone call will be contacted about the absence.
  2. A record for the attendance of a student is attached to their PEP data each term.
  3. The target for each student is 95%. We will become very concerned if the attendance of a student falls below this
  4. As agreed in The Home-Academy Agreement, we expect all holidays to be taken outside of term time. The education of a child can be seriously disrupted if they miss long periods of learning.
