Year 7 Admissions
Thank you for expressing an interest in our Academy for your child to join us in September 2020. In 2017 we were delighted for Ofsted to have judged that ‘the school continues to be a good school’ where the students ‘clearly enjoy and very importantly value their education.’ We hope that our next inspection will confirm the momentum we have, to be designated as an outstanding school.
We would like to extend a warm invitation to our Open Evening on Thursday 19th September 2019 between 5.00pm and 8.00pm, to be held at the Academy. Our Open Evening will offer prospective Year 7 students and parents an opportunity to find out more about the Academy, our ethos, our successes and the exciting range of opportunities and facilities that are available within the Academy.
During the evening you will have the opportunity to meet with the leadership team, teaching staff, support staff, current students in lower and upper school and from the Sixth Form. Our lead students will be available to take you on a tour to see and participate in the activities and experiences that make the Academy a great place at which to work and learn. Staff and students will be pleased to answer your questions on all aspects of Darwen Aldridge Community Academy.
If you are unable to attend the Open Evening, we will be holding an Open Morning on Friday 20th September 2019 from 9.00am to 12.00 noon. Please contact Rachel Lewis - Assistant Principal Transition and Inclusion on 01254 819524 or via email on firstname.lastname@example.org if you wish to visit us at this time, or indeed at any other convenient time for you.
Please be aware that we have previously been oversubscribed with significantly more applications than places available. Most parents who missed out on securing places did so because they did not meet the deadline for the return of applications for places. The deadline is 31st October 2019 and applications for places in our Academy are made through the BwD application for school places process. Please ensure that you do not miss the deadline. It is also worth noting that historically, every application that has placed the Academy as a first preference has secured a place.
On the evening, on-site parking will be provided, accessible off Redearth Road. The access to the buildings will be from this parking area or via the main Academy entrance and you will be requested to sign in on arrival.
We look forward to seeing you at our Open Evening. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions.
